Yes! It is very common. Body dysmorphia is the obsessive perceived flaw in their appearance. As a bodybuilder, the body is the criticized on stage at all details. Some of these concerns are real and can be addressed surgically. Some are only self perceived and should not be engaged. I find there is a broad specturm of body dysmorphia as it presents to me in practice. Some patients can be convinced that their concerns do not need to be surgically addressed, vs others who will not take no for an answer. These are the patients that can pursue cosmetic surgery into significant deformities or complications.
